Unlimited is a loudness maximizer by Sonic Anomaly, you can also use it as a limiter for stereo and 5.1 surround material.

It also offers an ITU-R BS.1770 compliant loudness meter in addition to RMS output meters.

It aims to have balanced characteristics: avoiding audible distortion typical to hard limiting and clipping to the extent it is feasible, yet still not sounding compressed or vigorless.

Even though it supports 5.1 configurations, a normal stereo operation is fully supported and the additional channels won’t consume any CPU when they are not in use.

System Requirements:

  • Windows and VST only

I'm just wondering if anyone else is aware of and/or using the BBE sonic maximizer? I have a hardware 1u version, model 882i which is the 2-channel with Balance, unbalanced, and XLR. I also have the sonic Stomp (stomp box version). I'm also about to pull the trigger on the VST plug-in

The Sonic maximizer can go anywhere in your chain but I tend to put it at the end, Main out. It essentially breaks your signal into Low and High Frequency and then allows you to apply variable amounts of ÔÇ£enhancementÔÇØ to either of the bands. From what I understand, it does some phase shifting to help the frequencies ÔÇ£play along togetherÔÇØ and is based somewhat on how a speaker will naturally distort under certain conditions and helps prevent it.
Like any effect, the sonic maximizer can be over or incorrectly applied and make a mess but from what IÔÇÖve found, it is easy to use and sounds amazing. Again, just my opinion but this thing really helps clarify each signal EG- your vocals arenÔÇÖt as lost in the mix and signals in general just have more umph.
I was just curious if any of you guys/gals were using any of these and if you hadnÔÇÖt heard of it, then IÔÇÖm telling you now. I love it!
